I’m Josh, an this is my band Divided Compass, an Indie Pop/Rock band based in South London!
I’m posting here on behalf of my band as we’ve had to make the decision of letting our previous bassist go due to unreliability and are in urgent need of a new FULL TIME bassist who can join our band as soon as possible!
As mentioned above, we’re a Full Time Indie Pop/Rock band who take influences from acts such as The Beatles, The Smiths, Bastille and a lot of 70s Rock + 2010s Alternative. We also take a lot of influence from cinematic television and film to help create an immersive environment for the crowds.
We aim to perform at a range of ticketed, paid and showcased/open mic events across london and the rest of the UK as regularly as possible (3-5 times a week). This from our perspective, allows us to show that we are a serious and active band, whilst also trying to develop a strong following. We also look to rehearse 3x a week (one of the days will be a creative writing and recording session where we’d be keen for you to be involved in).
Our next appointments will be this Saturday (28/01/23), where we’ll be performing at a small festival at Fiddlers Elbow from 2pm to 3pm. In addition we also look to perform at a Showcase event at The Bread and Roses, Clapham where we could be given the opportunity to perform at Glasto later on this year (a large opportunity for us)! This takes place on 09/02/23
If you are keen in joining, please note this role as of current is on a first come, first serve basis. The candidate will preferably need to attend a rehearsal As soon as possible from 2pm to 6/7pm (Monday) (more details will be discussed about that in private). We will also do a briefing before hand to discuss in person how we work as a band.

SOULY SPECIALISES IN BASS GUITAR (MULTI INSTRUMENTALIST ARE FINE BUT NEEDS TO CATER MORE ON THE BASS END OF THE SPECTRUM)

CAN PLAY TO A GIG STANDARD, NO NEED TO SPEND HOURS ON HOURS ON CERTAIN PARTS OF A SONG UNLESS STRICTLY NEEDED

IS ABLE TO ATTEND AN IN STUDIO EVENT 3 TIMES A WEEK (MONDAY, WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY)

IS AVAILABLE THROUGH OUT THE WEEK TO TAKE ON LAST MINUTE GIG BOOKINGS (WE GET A LOT THOSE) AND REHEARSALS

PAYS FOR THEIR OWN TRAVEL TO AND FROM REHEARSALS AND GIGS FROM THEIR RESIDENCE AND BETWEEN REHEARSALS AND GIGS

IS WILLING TO TRAVEL OUTSIDE OF LONDON TO PLACES SUCH AS LEEDS, PORTSMOUTH AND SOUTHEND AND IS ABLE TO PAY THEIR OWN OR CONTRIBUTE TO A SHARED COST OF TRAVEL AND HOTEL (WE LOOK STRONGLY AT THE CHEAPEST PLACES AND FORMS OF TRAVEL, BUT SOMETIMES THIS WILL OUT WEIGHT THE PAY SOME GIGS WILL GIVE US. AS OF CURRENT WE’RE LOOKING MORE ON AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT BEFORE BIG BUCKS BUT DOESN’T MEAN WE DON’T WANT THE PAY)

CAN LEARN SONGS QUICKLY AND IS ABLE TO VOICE SUGGESTIONS ON IMPROVEMENTS

IS OVERALL QUITE SOCIABLE, IS WILLING TO WORK WITH US AND BE CONSIDERED AS PART OF THE FAMILY, RATHER THAN WORKING FOR US. SOMEONE WHO IS INTO DOING THINGS WITH US OUTSIDE THE WORLD OF BAND

PRIORITIES SHOULD BE PRIMARILY ON THE BAND. ITS FINE TO HAVE PART TIME WORK OR IN EDUCATION, BUT AS LONG AS THAT CAN BE WORKED AROUND THE BAND SCHEDULE THAT SHOULD BE FINE. PLEASE ALSO LIMIT ANY HOLIDAYS TO A WEEK, 1 OR 2 TIMES A YEAR. PLEASE ALSO LEAVE PLENTY OF NOTICE ABOUT THIS UP TO 2 MONTHS IN ADVANCE. DO NOT BOOK ON DAYS OR THE WEEK WE HAVE GIGS PRE BOOKED. A DIARY (LIKE THE ONE ATTACHED BELOW) WILL BE SENT OUT FREQUENTLY IN THE BAND CHAT WITH DATES AND VENUES WE WILL PERFORM
These requirements look extreme, but these are issues we are trying to eliminate so we can develop as much as possible.
