Have you created something during lockdown? We want to hear it!

We’re working on a project about celebrating creativity in all its forms during lockdown. Have you created something interesting during lockdown? Share it with us below. This isn’t strictly about music either - any form of creativity is great.

Thanks!

Hi Dan,

I’ve not really created something from scratch, but since I couldn’t gig I’ve used this time to record some of the songs I had in my draft folder.

The result is a single called “Stranger” that is one month old today, and an EP scheduled to be released in early December.

You can have a listen at https://bluemelt.co.uk/music/stranger/

Hope you like it

I created this double A-Side single during lockdown, specifically for Halloween. It started of as a bit of fun, letting em try and up my production skills whilst I couldn’t get to a studio with a producer and engineer, before deciding I should release it.

I hadn’t released anything since early 2019, so I figured I needed new content out there and thought a couple of Halloween tracks would be as good an excuse as any. I did a pretty soft release for them as I didn’t expect too much from them…I was quite critical of them, but they actually ended up going down pretty well with about 6K streams for both tracks in the first week (sure, not Ed Sheeran style numbers, but I was pleased!). It gave me a little boost in confidence with my self-produced stuff.

I recorded and mixed it myself at home and then I collaborated with a Mastering Producer I met via Facebook to do a bit of cleaning and finessing, sending him my project and letting him finish it off and just push it to the point I’ve not managed to get to as of yet, in producing.

You can hear the tracks here:

In Lockdown pt1 we did a ‘coronavirus remix’ of BB King’s Thrill Is Gone, I added a rap part that contains a host of now slightly out-of-date references :joy:

Man I’ve been up to so much during both lock downs.

In the first lock down I finished producing, recording and mixing two double albums with The Hanging Prophets (both to get a vinyl release in the future) and got them both mastered by John Davis in Metropolis Studios London. One of them is up on spotify at the moment

but we’re not giving the album a great push till we have the vinyl sorted…

I’m currently working on two other albums one electronic/Dub/Reggae with my partner in crime J-Roots for the Analogue Mindfield Duo I am part of (14 tracks in on this one so far with a few WIP’s up on my profile here) and working on another rock album with 3 of my other mates as ‘The Bloody Quills’ (12 tracks in on this one so far). Will post some WIPs for that up here soon.

Was great working on all these albums as I’m a player/producer so got to play loads of instruments on the albums and not just engineering.

Also for The Hanging Prophets I edited 3 videos during lockdown you can find them here on our channel

please subscribe, like and remind if conspiratorial rock’n’roll punk with a lashing of post apocalyptic humor is your thing.

And finally I’m into writing the third act of a movie script based on my great uncles war story as a commando in the Chindits campaign against the Japanese in Burmah during WW2 under General Windgate…a crazy, crazy story…I’ve written 280 pages so far just for acts 1 and 2 so will definitely need a hell of a lot of editing to get the entire movie down to 120 pages but it feels like I’m making progress.

So yeah I’ve found many ways to keep myself artistically busy during lock down even though the coffers are running low with little prospect of that improving for the future…but hey if we were in it for the money we wouldn’t be in it for the art so all’s good!

I just released a new track on streaming platforms called “Two Times” with a friend of mine S.A.M & $teecv plus made a really cool edit for it on my instagram.

I’ve also done some edits and lyric videos for Universal Music too for artists like Sean Paul and Dizzee Rascal (plus a few more), I’ll link two of them below. Check them out and see what you think!
